Design Center Housing Services, Inc. (DCHS) is a nonprofit affiliate that manages LACDC’s real estate portfolio as well as affordable housing properties of third-party nonprofit community development corporations and government agencies. DCHS works to preserve the long-term viability and value of properties and to support safe, stable communities.
DCHS began in 1998 with a commitment to provide quality, service-enhanced management for residential properties occupied by low- and moderate-income people in the Los Angeles region and now serves a diverse portfolio consisting of 1,600 units, which are home to approximately 4,300 local residents.
Even as DCHS provides the developments with high quality management and building services such as a comprehensive maintenance program, on-site property managers, and complete financial reporting to owners and investors, it exceeds expectations with its people-focused strategy. We use resident services tailored to each tenant population to enhance their quality of life. Recognizing that the properties we serve exist within the larger community, we approach property management with a view to providing properties that residents can be proud of and that enhance the neighborhood.
DCHS is an expert in compliance with affordable housing regulations and works with funding sources including Low Income Housing Tax Credits; the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD); the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles (CRA/LA), and numerous local programs in cities throughout Southern California.
